This is the hat I finished up for Eawyn a couple days ago. She grabbed a skein of yarn and wanted to buy it while we were wandering around Jo-Ann's tracking down a couple other things I needed. It was inexpensive acrylic so I humored her. It's totally my own design and I'm fairly proud of the stem design I came up with at the top where I decreased it to the point where I could throw in a little cabling.
Have you figured out what your (or your kids') Halloween costume will be this year? What's it going to be?
Yep! We've been ready for over a month. Eawyn will be a witch and Houston is going to be a lion.
What is your favorite way to relieve stress?
One of my favorite ways to relieve stress in college was to go shoot baskets out on the outdoor court in my dorm's courtyard. I haven't had a basket to call my own pretty much since then though, although I imagine I'll be adding one to our house sometime in the next couple years for Eawyn. Computer games and activities have definitely replaced physical activity to a depressing degree for me in the last ten years. Earlier this summer I was playing a ton of a mac networked Tetris clone called Quinn because I find it relaxing to zone out and think about other things as I play, but that tapered off after I was able to reach my goal of 100,000 points a couple times. This month I've started picking up a new hobby that's becoming a little bit more relaxing as I become better at it. I'm also looking forward to finally finishing up my kayak completely so I can take some nice relaxing paddles in the future (probably next year at this point).
Update: I don't know why this never occurred to me until I read Matt's list, but playing with Eawyn is by far my favorite stress reliever these days. I guess I've always enjoyed it so much that I never really thought about it in that fashion.

This is completely sad and a product of Eawyn's morning television show viewing habits. Doodlebops is definitely her favorite because they do so much singing and dancing and she'll actually sit and watch the whole show all the way through because of it. I've usually only watched the show when it's on during the weekend, but they sing Get On The Bus in the middle of every episode and I've had it going through my head at weird times all week long.
