My brother turns the big THREE-OH today. Happy Birthday Micah!
Happy Birthday Kristen!
A while back I found a bunch of older family digital photos on a cd and imported them into iPhoto. This seemed like an appropriate time to pull one out and put it up here. I especially like how the oversized (by Spokane standards) street sign makes Kristen look like a tiny person.
What song was the number one song on the charts the day you were born? How about the day you turned 21? What do you think about the song?
Let's Get It On - Marvin Gaye for the day I was born and I'll Make Love to You - Boyz II Men for my 21st birthday. The trend here makes me laugh.
From Matt (via Mena behind the Friends wall I think), the instructions:
- Go to Wikipedia.
- In the search box, type your birth month and day (but not year).
- List three events that happened on your birthday.
- List two important birthdays and one interesting death.
- One holiday or observance (if any).
My Birthday: September 8, 1973
Three Events
- 1998 - At Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, Mark McGwire breaks Roger
Maris' 1961 record of 61 home runs hit in a single season. I actually saw this on television and thought it was pretty cool that it happened on my birthday at the time; unfortunately these days it's looking likely that McGwire used steroids.
- 1974 - Evel Knievel's attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon at Twin Falls, Idaho, fails after a parachute prematurely deploys on his "sky cycle."
- 1966 - "The Man Trap", the first episode of the science fiction television series Star Trek airs. This is my favorite event by far.
Two Births
- 1960 - Aimee Mann, American musician (Loved her work on the Magnolia soundtrack.)
- 1970 - Latrell Sprewell, American basketball player (who infamously choked coach P.J. Carlesimo while playing for the Golden State Warriors).
- 2004 - Frank Thomas, American animator (b. 1913)
