I found the juxtaposition of these NBA related buzz pictures and the ads beneath them amusing:
I'm an NBA player, I don't have to worry about that stuff- right?
You're looking a little sleepy MJ. Good thing you've got a job where you can kick back a little.
C'mon Michael Curry, don't be ashamed of your smile. Your teeth can't be that bad.
Watching the NCAA basketball championship in HD last night was pretty cool. The detail really jumped out every time the camera panned across the crowds. I'm really looking forward to watching some sports like football, soccer, baseball and golf (the Masters is next weekend!) that take place on much larger playing fields that will really benefit from the increased detail. On a happy HD note we also get ESPNHD as part of our package so I should be able to find plenty of sports programming to watch this summer.
I poked around On Demand a little last night and found a few free HD movies. Besides HD content I discovered that they had quite a few free older movies that I hadn't seen and wouldn't mind watching. There were some classic Alfred Hitchcock movies that looked pretty interesting for instance. I ended up watching Escape from New York in HD and was pretty impressed with the picture quality. When I had previously seen parts of that movie in 480i pan and scan it had come across to me as a much cheesier and lower quality movie than it actually was.
...went pretty well this year.
Just a little Ferris basketball video I worked on over the weekend. I made a copy of the original video tape to video cd shortly after the game took place almost five years ago, but it didn't occur to me to make a sequential highlight video like this until I discovered YouTube earlier this year. I think it turned out reasonably well and I'm looking forward to making a few more videos along these lines in the future.
So, what are your plans for the weekend?
It's actually shaping up to be a pretty busy weekend. At some point tomorrow I need to mow my lawn because it's way too long thanks to all the rain we've had lately. Before I get to that the Ferris Varsity has a summer tournament basketball game at 9AM. Then the US soccer team has their second match around noon and I want to catch it (even though Italy will probably kill them). Sunday we have a family Father's Day barbecue at our house (another reason to get the lawn mowed) and I may need to pick up some propane for the grill. Then the NBA finals are back on at 6PM. Should be a good weekend.
